REAL NAME: Nicolas Canales
GROUP AFFILIATION: The lesser Ennead.
BIOGRAPHY: When Nicolas Canales was a child, he often dreamt of pyramids, tombs and ancient Egypt. Even before he had any real knowledge of it by studying it at school.
All this would have remained simply a curiosity if the Canales family had not decided to take a trip to Egypt.
The boy was ecstatic, finally his dreams were physical reality that he could see and touch.
Unfortunately, the holiday turned into a nightmare, when members of the secret necromantic sect 'The Openers' decided to violate the Valley of the Kings in search of a new tomb that would give them a powerful talisman of ancient Egypt: The Mask of Anubis.
Hostage to the cultists, whose purpose seemed to be to open the doors to the afterlife, Nicolas heard a voice. A voice that called him to his role, that of gatekeeper, and ordered him to put on the mask of Anubis.
He had become the Gatekeeper, the enemy of necromancers and the guardian of the repose of the dead.
POWERS: Gatekeeper wears, like his companions of the lesser ennead, a tough suit of orichalc armour. In addition, the mask of Anubis grants him the power to deteriorate objects and living beings with powerful necrotic damage.
His role as guardian of the gate of the dead allows him to stabilise a dying person, although this power can only save people who are dying and not already dead or for whom it is impossible to intervene.
Finally he can sense when someone in his (relative) vicinity is trying to open a dimensional gate.
LOVERS AND FRIENDS: Nicolas is deeply in love with Maha (Cat's claws), but is unrequited.
His best friend is Ilyas, a Syrian boy who had to flee his homeland and with whom Nicolas has formed a strong friendship.
On the other hand, with Hashim, Crusher Ram, there is not a good relationship, because although Nicolas understands Hashim's mission to destroy human traffickers, he sees the latter's excessive use of violence as a problem.
