Golden Oak is an elegant building, in a vague Meiji style, built in the hills surrounding Kamakura, Tokyo. The academy's headquarters houses several facilities, a Buddhist temple, with a Tenjin and Inari shrine inside, a large sports hall, a vast library, and other smaller structures, in addition to the building housing the classrooms and dormitories. This building houses the nearly 300 students who attend the institute. There are 10 sections, each composed of three or six sections (three for middle school, three for high school). Technically, Matt isn't a member of the Imperial Military Academy. However, as a close friend of Daigo, he's often found in the military school buildings. A highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant, an accident has given him state-of-the-art mechanical arms. His father is Japanese, but his mother is of American descent, either Hawaiian or Native American. However, Matt prefers to fight with his fists whenever possible.

Although the plan partially failed, private centers such as the Green Leaf Academy still exist. The Imperial Military Academy in Ise is undoubtedly one of the most prestigious and advanced institutions in the nation. While the academy officially trains young officers for the reborn Imperial Armed Forces, its true purpose is to monitor and train young superhumans to serve the Empire (or rather, the Shogunate). Emperor Daigo himself also studies in this academy.
